Some of them are cute. This week's dreaming sea comic.
New (OLD!) comic just posted at the dreaming sea... Octopuses are COOL! (in case you didn't already know that)
I'm in the process of re-vamping my illustration website, and it made me realize that there's a lot of stuff I've been working on over the last few months that I haven't posted about and I'd like to share.
One really exciting, ongoing project I've been involved in is a series of activity books for young people, all about Yosemite. I'm working with an awesome bay area publisher, Heyday Books, a company that puts out all kinds of great books about California history, nature, and culture. This job couldn't be a better fit for me - I'm working on educational materials, for a national park I know and love, and I am required to do tons of animal and nature drawings!
Near the end of 2009, I received the final prints of our first effort - a three-booklet series focused on the different sections of Yosemite National Park - one booklet each for Yosemite Valley, Wawona/Mariposa Grove, and Tuolumne Meadows. I believe they are actually on sale at the park now. I am really happy with how the final prints look, and they are small and affordable enough that everyone who wants one should be able to get one! My hope is that kids and adults alike will enjoy the illustrations, activities, and info presented in each of them.

My illustrations for these booklets are mostly spot-sized, vignetted illustrations. I am very happy with how they came out! However, I'm also really looking forward to illustrating the next book we're working on - a longer, more involved activity book aimed at older kids/teens where it looks like I'll get to do some larger, more complex illustrations.
More tales of whales! (and their tails)
